Why Fear?

I don’t know why I fear. Or worry. Or try to figure out all the different ways something could go so that I can prepare myself for all of them. I don’t know why I look at the future and try to find the safest path.

I don’t know why I do it when the One Who knows said to trust Him.

If you find yourself in the same boat as I found myself this morning, I don’t have a lot to say to you. Trusting is something I’m still figuring out how to do myself. But there’s Someone Who does have something to say to you. And me.

Your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask Him. [Matthew 6:8]

Take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? For your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. [Matthew 6:31-32]

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. [Matthew 7:7]

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask Him? [Matthew 7:11]

Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. [Matthew 7:24-25]

Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. [Matthew 8:13]

Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? [Matthew 8:26]

According to your faith be it unto you. [Matthew 9:29]

The very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore. [Matthew 10:30-31]

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. [Matthew 11:28-30]

Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. [Matthew 14:27]

Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish. [Matthew 18:14]

For where two or three are gathered together in My name, there am I in the midst of them. [Matthew 18:20]

With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. [Matthew 19:26]

Every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. [Matthew 19:29]

All things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. [Matthew 21:22]

He that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. [Matthew 24:13]

Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. [Matthew 24:46]

Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. [Matthew 26:41]

Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. [Matthew 28:20]

When I really think about it, God has it all under control, and in the end He will be glorified and His children will be safe in Him.

So now instead of wanting to worry, I just want to praise, because I know that the God I serve is a sovereign and all-powerful God, and He will carry out His will. And there is no fear in that.

Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of His understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might He increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: but they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint. [Isaiah 40:28-31]

It is so freeing to trust.
